Koala Cherries select varieties that are ideally suited to our unique growing conditions.
We grow over 30 varieties of cherries carefully selected to suit the specific conditions of the 13 orchards operated by Koala Cherries in 3 different growing regions. Flavour, firmness, size and colour are characteristics we consider when selecting cherry varieties, with the ultimate aim of having the best cherries every week of the season.
Selecting cherry varieties is complex and time consuming, and takes well over 10 years from when a new variety is selected to harvesting the first cherries.
We rely on the experience and knowledge accumulated over our 80 years of growing cherries, and the relationships we have forged with breeders internationally, to help us identify the very best cherry varieties.
